While you are reading this, your browser is loading the data for the exhibition. In the meantime, I'll briefly explain how the whole thing works. If you have any questions, problems, praise, criticism or anything else on your mind, feel free to drop us a mail at methodendozentur@esit.uni-tuebingen.de and we'll try to help!
So: How does it work? Quite simple: First you find yourself in the main menu. Pretty straightforward so far. From there you (hopefully) press the Start button.
It may take a moment (no longer than 30 seconds, I promise!) until you get redirected to our exhibition. That' s exciting! But oh dear, what do you do now?
Ideally, you should click the exhibition window again with your mouse, then your cursor disappears and you can simply browse the exhibition.
Use your cursor to navigate your surroundings. Moving the mouse will also move the camera. Easy! But how do you get from A to B?
Simple: With the arrow keys. Or (for the veteran gamers among us...) with the WASD keys. Forward, backward, right, left. You move forward in the direction you're facing, just like in real life.
Once you get close enough to one of our beautiful picture frames, a window will automatically open with all the important and exciting info. Just try it out!
Oh by the way: If you have vision impairments or difficulty reading, you can also use our text-to-speech feature. Just press the space bar when the text box opens. It' s as simple as that. Also, please don't be surprised by the not-so-perfect sound quality of Ulysses. Unfortunately, he has yet to discover professional microphones! Oh well, never mind. The text about industrialization and trade unionism even plays a song about the topic, if you press the enter key. Cool, isn't it?
Once you're done, just press the escape key and you'll get back to the main menu. Great! If your cursor doesn't show up on your screen, press Escape again and it should reappear.
Depending on your browser, internet performance, and the mood of the tech gods, you may have some problems loading or running the exhibition on your device. If this is the case, just try copying the URL into another browser (Opera, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome...). Alternatively, we created a video where you can view and listen to all the texts. You can find it directly under the exhibition window.
You can find a video of the exhibition in the form of a guided tour here. This video lets you view all the texts and pictures and also reads them out to you. No more or less than visiting the exhibition itself. I hope you enjoy it!
